ENVIROCARE 370 - Heavy-Duty Solvent Cleaner

Description

ENVIROCARE 370 heavy-duty solvent cleaner is a solventbased coal tar solubilizer and emulsion cleaner containing a blend of aromatic hydrocarbons and surface-active agents. It is used for the removal of coal tar, crude benzene, bitumen and similar substances. ENVIROCARE 370 heavy-duty solvent cleaner is an economical cleaner which can be used for cleaning heavily contaminated metal parts as well as for tank cleaning. Upon sitting, a solution of water and ENVIROCARE 370 heavy-duty solvent cleaner cleaning agent will separate, leaving water at the top while the cleaner and contaminants sink to the bottom of the tank. ENVIROCARE 370 heavy-duty solvent cleaner has been evaluated by the IMO Bulk Liquids and Gases (BLG) Working Group on the Evaluation of Safety and Pollution Hazards of Chemicals (ESPH) and found to meet the requirements of Paragraph 1.8.2 of the Procedures & Arrangements Standards and is listed on the MEPC.2/CIRC.11. Only cleaners listed on the IMO MEPC.2/CIRC.11 can be used and disposed of at sea for cargo tank cleaning when the cargo residue slops are disposable at sea.

Tank Cleaning

The following tank cleaning instructions are not intended to interfere with the judgment of the Master, Chief Mate, or Chief Engineer in the operation and/or navigation of the vessel. They are meant only as a guide since circumstances for each tank cleaning operation will vary. The recommendations provided are designed to achieve the optimum results and are based on over 40 years of tank cleaning experience.

Application and Use

BE SURE TO HAVE ADEQUATE VENTILATION WHEN USING THIS PRODUCT.

Before cleaning with ENVIROCARE 370 heavy-duty solvent cleaner, it is recommended to prewash for two hours with seawater at a maximum temperature of 50° C (122° F). If the previous cargo was crude oil, drying or semi-drying oils, a prewash with cold water should be applied. Remove any sediment by hand. Recirculation Method - Prepare cleaning solution by adding one liter of ENVIROCARE 370 heavy-duty solvent cleaner to nine liters of water in the tank to be cleaned. Using an automatic tank washing machine, recirculate for four to eight hours at 50° C (122° F). Heat is normally achieved by the use of heating coils in the tanks being cleaned. The volume of the recirculating tank washing system should be carefully calculated to ensure that there is sufficient cleaning solution for continuous recirculation. Pump the solution into another tank. Rinse with fresh water and drain. For chloride-free cleaning, steam the tank with live steam.

Spot Cleaning

Apply ENVIROCARE 370 heavy-duty solvent cleaner by spray, brush, mop or soaking method to remove coal tar, dried tars and asphalt. Allow at least 20 minutes after application to soften and solubilize hard contaminants before rinsing.

Immersion Baths

ENVIROCARE 370 heavy-duty solvent cleaner can be used in immersion baths for the cleaning of metal components badly soiled with coal tar or similar substances. During cleaning, provide periodic agitation and keep the area well ventilated.
