Directions for Use

It is a violation of federal law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling. This product must not be used on any food or field crop or to formulate any product for use on any food or field crop.

Precleaning

To achieve best control of fouling, AMERSPERSE 280 treatment should be applied to a clean system. If fouling is present, it is recommended that the system be thoroughly cleaned prior to its use.

Dosage

For best results, treat the system with 10 ppm of AMERSPERSE 280 treatment for 100 minutes every 3-4 days. To treat at 10 ppm, feed at the rate of 3.88 pounds/100 tons/hour (1.5 liters/100 tons/hour) of system flow rate. The frequency of dosing may be less, depending on the degree of fouling. Consult your local Drew Marine representative.

Application

AMERSPERSE 280 treatment is completely soluble in seawater and can be conveniently fed directly from the drum or dosing tank. An eductor dosing system is recommended due to the ease of application and lack of crew handling.

AMERSPERSE 280 treatment may be dosed by a gravity feed system which employs a diluted solution of the chemical. The best point of feed is as early as possible in the system, preferably at the suction sea chest strainer before any heat transfer surface. This provides total dispersion and mixing of the AMERSPERSE 280 treatment with the seawater. The mixed solution will thus contact all parts of the seawater cooling system.

AMERSPERSE 280 treatment should not be fed to a system while the seawater is being drawn as makeup for an evaporator or water maker. Either isolate the evaporator or shut it down while AMERSPERSE 280 treatment is being dosed and for at least 30 minutes afterward.

Precautionary Statements Hazards to Humans and Domestic Animals

WARNING: Causes eye and skin irritation. Do not get in eyes, on skin or on clothing. Workers applying this product must wear coveralls over a long-sleeved shirt and long pants, shoes, socks, and chemical-resistant gloves. During dilution, a chemical-resistant apron and goggles or face shield must also be worn. Harmful if swallowed. Avoid contamination of food and feedstuffs.

ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS: This pesticide is toxic to fish. Do not apply (or use) in estuarine oil fields where drilling fluids (muds) are discharged in the surface water. Do not contaminate water by cleaning of equipment or disposal of wastes. Do not discharge treated effluent into lakes, streams, ponds or public waters unless in accordance with a U.S. National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit. For guidance, contact your U. S. regional office or the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Storage and Disposal

1. PROHIBITIONS: Do not contaminate water, food or feed by storage or disposal. Open dumping is prohibited.

2. PESTICIDE DISPOSAL: Pesticide wastes are toxic.Improper disposal of excess pesticide, spray mixture, or rinsate is a violation of U.S. federal law. If these wastes cannot be disposed of by use according to label instructions, contact your U.S. State Pesticide or Environmental Control Agency, or the U.S. Hazardous Waste representative at the nearest U.S. EPA regional office for guidance.

3. CONTAINER DISPOSAL: (a) Reseal container and offer for reconditioning, or (b) Metal Containers: Triple rinse (or equivalent). Then offer for recycling or reconditioning, or puncture and dispose of in a sanitary landfill or by other approved U.S. state and local procedures. Plastic Containers: Triple rinse (or equivalent). Then offer for recycling or reconditioning, or puncture and dispose of in a sanitary landfill, or incineration, or if allowed, by U.S. state and local authorities, by burning. If burned, stay out of smoke.

4. GENERAL: Consult U.S. federal, state, or local disposal authorities for approved alternative procedures.

State of Practical Treatment

In case of contact, immediately flush eyes or skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. For eyes, call a physician. Remove and wash contaminated clothing before reuse. If swallowed, drink promptly a large quantity of egg whites, gelatin solution or if these are not available, drink large quantities of water. Call a physician immediately.

Packaging

AMERSPERSE 280 treatment is available in 25-liter containers.
