GC - Concentrated Alkaline Liquid
Description
GC concentrated alkaline liquid is used in conjunction with ADJUNCT B phosphate boiler water treatment to prevent the formation of calcium scale deposits. Both products are used in our standard boiler water treatment programs for low-pressure boiler systems (0-32 bar) and medium-pressure steam propulsion vessels (32-60 bar). They are also used in our ULTRAMARINESM boiler water treatment program for highpressure steam generating systems (60-84 bar).
The use of GC concentrated alkaline liquid in conjunction with ADJUNCT B treatment converts calcium hardness into soft, non-adherent sludge that is easily removed by blowdown.
Application
Dosage, Testing and Control: The boiler water daily alkalinity and/or pH test result determines the necessary dosage. For details on testing procedures, refer to the appropriate control and dosage chart or contact your local Drew Marine representative. One (1) milliliter of GC concentrated alkaline liquid per ton of distilled water provides 0.5 ppm of hydrate alkalinity.
Feed Points: Dose with ADJUNCT B phosphate boiler water treatment by diluting with condensate and feed directly to the steam drum (below water level) using a bypass pot feeder. For low-pressure boilers, GC liquid may be dosed to the hotwell or condensate return tank, although this is not the preferred method.
Additional Data
GC concentrated alkaline liquid can also be used as a neutralizing agent following acid cleaning with SAF-ACIDTM descaling compound. For details, refer to product data sheet.
